Bourton House Garden
Bourton on the Hill, Moreton in Marsh,
Gloucestershire

The next day Bourton
House was our third garden to visit on the tour. Mellow Cotswold stone abounded.
A terrace of steps with wonderful planting led us up to a huge lawn, edged on
two sides with wide herbaceous beds. On another side is a raised garden with
stone walkway, with wide views of the countryside. Round a corner and we found a
shade house, then a knot garden with a fountain, another terraced area with
fabulous rural views, and a parterre.
We found several plants that we would like to grow at home in our garden
and managed to get some of the names from a lady working in the garden.
It is a great garden, very peaceful, tidy, and the more time you spend in it,
the more you find, we could have stayed longer.
Then there was tea in the tithe barn, but no plants for sale.
